ASFMA Committees
- Administrative Committee
Conducts administrative functions of the organization, write business correspondence, produce and disseminate Association publications, newletters, updates and maintain records.
- Education & Training Committee
Plan and coordinate annual seminar; responsible for planning CME, CLE and CEU credits for membership; arrange for accreditation of programs for CLE’s; present a plan of activities to enhance the understanding and practice of ADR for the membership and public; arrange for roundtable mediation discussions and case reviews; develop and maintain a list of reference articles, books and papers for posting on the website; establish and maintain a lending library at the Broward Bar Association office containing relevant material; develop, implement and oversee the Mediator Referral Service; provide training opportunities for the website.
- Finance Committee
Present an annual financial plan optimizing Association Funds; create a budgetary process to assist all committees, assist the Treasurer with the items to be reported at each meeting; present an annual budget for funding requests for all planned activities 30 calendar days before the end of the year; submit an annual report of activities and expenditures to the President and Board of Directors 30 days before the end of the year.
- Membership Committee
Presents an annual plan of activities to enhance membership; presents honors and awards to members; maintains updated membership records; communicate regarding the membership application; coordinate with the webmaster/website; develop policies and incentives to promote and expand membership; provide up-to-date membership lists for events; provide orientation packets to new members; encourage new members to join a committee; develop and conduct surveys; assist any member with membership issues; present an annual budget and annual report.
- Program Committee
Present an annual plan of activities to ensure both the Association’s purpose and its responsibility to serve its membership; plan all Association meetings and events, co-plan and co-implement an annual Community Forum event with the Education and Training and Public Relations committees; arrange for presenters and speakers, establish and maintain a contact list of vendors; coordinate publicity; present an annual budget and annual report.
- Public Relations Committee
Works in conjunction with the Education and Training Committee to develop a Mediator Referral Service; displaying ASFMA logo and banner at events and activities; maintain ASFMA brochure and dissemination; promote Association at events, local, statewide and national conferences, forums and trainings; co-implement the annual Community Forum event; organize fundraising; develop and maintain good relations with media contacts and within the print and broadcast industries; publicize Association sponsored events through press releases, PSA’s and paid an unpaid advertising; establish and maintain a Speakers Bureau; present an annual budget and annual report.
